Shades
by Ana's Flat Roman |
There
are nearly as many manufacturing techniques as there are
manufacturers in the market. At Shades by Ana, we have developed
our own method, based on our experience working in the two main
global markets: Europe and the United States.

Flat
Roman stacking has the appearance of a beautiful valance
. |
Our
Flat Roman Shades are divided into an odd number of spaces that
seem equal to the naked eye. This allows the folds to stack up
behind each other as the shade is pulled up. When the shade is
in the up position, it has the appearance of a beautiful valance.

. |
The
spacing in Flat Romans is created by parallel, horizontally sewn
pockets, through which a plastic dowel is inserted. These dowels
give consistency to the shade, allowing it to fold up perfectly,
leaving one dowel on the bottom and another on the top of each
fold. This folding method avoids unnecessary creases, which
would deteriorate the fabric, and consequently shorten the shade’s
life.

For
proper functioning of the shade, its lifting cords need to run
through rings. These rings are attached with a tape that is sewn
onto the horizontal pocket where the dowel is inserted. We use
rust-free brass rings, guaranteeing the Flat Roman Shade’s
long term efficiency.

We
use the best and most resistant name brand threads in the marketplace.
For cotton and natural fibers, such as silk or linen, we use cotton
threads. For synthetic fibers, we use nylon.
|
Our
Flat roman shades are lined to prevent the fabric from
deteriorating due to factors such as sunlight, weather
conditions, or dust. You may choose our house lining, made of
insulated 100% cotton, or our blackout lining, if you would like
to block the light when you cover the window. We sometimes
produce unlined shades, especially when using sheer fabrics that
allow you to see through the shade..
|
We
offer three types of shade lift systems: Standard, Easy Rise and
Motorization.
Our
Flat roman shades come in nine (9) different styles, according to shape
and trim selection. In order to assist you in your selection, these
styles are available to view.
